New website and digital identity

From the fascinating Borromeo Islands in Lake Maggiore to the peaceful and charming Mergozzo Lake, all the way up to the bewitching scenario of Orta Lake, where you can find the suggestive Island of St. Jules. Nature, art, and historical jewels make this one of the most beautiful tourist areas in the world.

Distretto dei Laghi needed to renew its identity without changing the brand logo and rebuild the web experience to give users an accessible tool to discover the area and plan activities.

Distretto Turistico dei Laghi Website

Value

We designed a new visual language based on typography. It represents the environmental contrast between lakes and mountains. After a research phase, we built the foundations of the new online customer experience, starting with the main website.

A new visual language

With our soft rebranding activity, we gave a new visual identity to the District by enriching the site with unique elements creating a solid and recognisable ecosystem.

The new visuals and tone of voice communicate and represent territorial values. The result gives greater homogeneity to the entire narrative structure.

A new information architecture

Co-design activities with the entire working group made reorganising the entire portal information architecture possible.

We also reorganised content and information to a more user-centred mindset by building a more intuitive information architecture that enables more straightforward navigation, giving access to what interests them most.

Proactive activities and content showcase

We reorganised the content presentation system (such as experiences, events and points of interest) to put the user's needs at the centre. District's new digital experience displays contextual activities during navigation.

For instance, based on the area's weather and related recommended activities, a customised or pre-set itinerary creation system facilitates the enjoyment of key site content.

A modular and scalable approach

The entire portal structure was designed through a modular approach which, in addition to respecting the principles of scalability and responsiveness, will allow the District to evolve its digital identity.

We created a Library whose components can be reorganised and assembled to create a coherent digital system in different applications.

design system

In times like this, where the climate crisis becomes increasingly evident, there is a special pleasure and commitment in working on promoting a territory, encouraging visitors, residents, and institutions to protect it so that this beauty can endure. It is with this spirit that Sketchin has approached this project.

Through our soft rebranding activity, we have designed a new digital experience for the District, helping to enhance one of the most beautiful tourist areas in the world: from Lake Maggiore, to Lake Mergozzo, to the enchanting scenery of Lake Orta.
